We have come together because of our serious concerns that Hobart is being diminished, and that ratepayers are increasingly being taken for granted. Across the community, many people are expressing frustration with the direction of the Hobart City Council and the decisions being made on their behalf.
For too long, ratepayers have watched as the city has become harder to move through, with poorly considered changes affecting local streets, traffic flow and accessibility. At the same time, significant public money has been spent on divisive and expensive projects that many residents and businesses do not support.
Over recent years, there has been a noticeable decline in the quality, balance and practicality of Council decision-making.
Hobart deserves better than a Council that appears distracted by ideological priorities while everyday ratepayers are left to carry the financial burden.
Hobart’s rates are extremely high. When compared with places such as the City of Launceston, it becomes clear that Hobart residents and businesses deserve far greater transparency, accountability and value for money.
We're focused on standing up for ratepayers, restoring common sense, and refocusing Council on the basics: responsible spending, practical decision-making, better services, and a city that works for everyone.
Hobart needs a Council that listens, works constructively, respects ratepayers, and puts the future of the city ahead of personal agendas. The current direction must change.
